Since 1985, Neometro has been involved in developing and supporting social and community activities across the country, ranging from self-initiated well-being programs to partnerships with not-for profit organisations. As a certified B Corporation, we believe that business can, and should, be used as a force for good.
Read More In 2012, one of our directors launched Smiling Mind—a not-for-profit that provides Mindfulness Meditation tailored for young people, in order to minimise anxiety and foster resilience. Since release, Smiling Mind has become one of Australia’s most downloaded well-being apps.
We also helped launch Shout For Good, a micro-donation platform that makes it simple for not-for-profits to raise funds. In the years since its launch the platform has helped raise more than 25 million dollars.
In 2013, we provided an arts residency at the ground floor of our 9 Smith Street display suite, which was awarded to the not-for-profit gallery Slopes. The same site also welcomed much-loved pop-up café Place Holder and urban farming initiative 3000 Acres— who transformed the car park at the rear into a garden where locals could learn how to grow and prepare produce in an urban setting.
Ever committed to discovering and sharing great design and architecture, we publish Open Journal—a Melbourne based broadsheet that brings together a diverse group of contributors to offer insightful commentary on the state of design in Australia and beyond.
In recent years, we’ve been instrumental in Brunswick's Jewell Station public realm upgrade, a large-scale initiative to improve wellbeing and strengthen the local community through improved amenities, cultural activities and sustainable transport infrastructure. The precinct’s first new building, also named Jewell Station, boasts 59 apartments unified by community activations, including a communal rooftop veggie garden and tool share.
And lately, two of our directors—Jeff Provan and James Tutton—have been closely involved in Collingwood Yards, a social-enterprise arts initiative that provides affordable rent and structured support to emerging artists and local organisations, with the goal to nurture and advance Melbourne’s wonderful arts community.
